She's been BEGGING me, my wife, and Santa. I can teach her some chords, but I'm wondering if the strings will hurt her fingertips. I remember building up calluses learning to play waaaaa-ay back when I was in high school.

It's never too young to get an instrument. The younger the age you get an instrument the more likely you will become very good with that instrument. Just one thing, don't go out and buy a real expensive one. Start with a good but cheap one and see how much she takes to it because you know kids, they will play with something for a week and then never play with it again. So, just make sure that she really wants to learn to "play it" and not "play with it".

Well. I don't think it's too early for her first guitar. If she wants one now buy it because she can learn early and be better later. If you think it will hurt her fingertips there's something you can buy but I can't think of the name of the item. Maybe just put tape on her fingers to start, and then make her use without when shes used to the guitar strings and that stuff. Best of luck!

No, 7 isn't too young. If you buy an acoustic guitar for her, just get the strings that are made of plastic, because those won't really hurt her fingers, and as she grows up, get her an electric guitar because by then she'll be used to the strings.

No way! It's never too old or too young to learn anything. Also, the majority of instruments take getting used to...and most times it's painful. I remember learning how to play the clarinet when I was seven...my right thumb hurt for months until it got used to the weight of the clarinet.

If she is really interested, purchase her one but get a decent one that will hold the strings after you have tuned it; otherwise, a big waste of money.

You will get calluses but it helps you play better anyway.

Suggestion only: Why not let her practice on one of yours and see if she really likes it? Or, buy a ukulele first. This will kindle her interest in guitar. It did me.

If she's asking at 7 for a guitar, chances may well be good she has a born talent for music---and I'd get her a guitar ASAP for Christmas!

This present from Santa can help you and daughter not only bond, but you can help her to hone her talent.....which may even well pay for itself when she's signed by a major record label, a multi-millionairess by 24 and her name is a beloved house-hold one world wide.

How approximately having a camp subject matter occasion... you would be able to desire to establish tents on your lounge and have them watch video clips, tell frightening memories...stuff like that...perhaps provide each newborn their very own little flash mild and compass (set up some scavenger hunt). in the experience that your daughter isnt into the camping out look, you would be able to desire to spruce it up by using utilising gauze like tents... this must be relaxing...perhaps have her provide u some strategies too. good luck!
