Restest in a few days if your period is still late. Your HCG level may not be high enough yet, or it may be that your period will come. You'll go broke if you test every single day!

The first response home pregnancy tests are very very sensitive, they can detect the HCG hormone at a 15* mIU, and is considered a very accurate test. Although there is no test on the market that is a 100% heck blood test's some of the time aren't even a 100%. But if you are late, and you took a test it could be one of two things, you either ovulated much later than assumed, and your egg hasn't implanted yet, or the egg has implanted and it hasn't released enough to detect pregnancy. I would say to wait a few days because HCG doubles in amount every other day. If you are still getting a negative result and you still haven't started then I would recommend going to see your doctor to find out why you haven't started yet. Also keep in mind it is not unheard of to have your cycles change on you, for example I have always had a 28 day cycle I could predict when my period was going to start on the dot. Then last month it didn't come on the day that it was due so of course I thought I was pregnant, but then a week later I did start. which would have made my cycle 35 days, and it is looking like this month is the same so wait it out a week and then go and see your doctor. Best of luck to you.

Try again in 2 or 3 days. I tried a test the day after I thought I was due and got a negative result, but then got a positive result 2 days later.

What is the rush for testing? If you are pregnant then testing is not going to change that just leave it a couple of weeks and then you will get an accurate result.
And yes it is possible for first response to give a false negative if there is not yet enough hormone for even that to see it.

more likely to get false negative than false positive. Wait for about 5-7 days if you can. That will give your hormones time to rise or to start your period. Our bodies can play funny tricks sometimes especially when we want to be pregnant. Good luck

Anything is possible, but do not bother. If you are it will be obvious soon enough, but stressing over it is only going to make it worse
