you need to extract the files in the rar archive to a folder on your computer.( the desktop is the easiest place ) you can delete this file when you have finished.
when you have extracted the files look in the new folder you created and tell me what type it is.
you might need a separate program to use the file. depends what it is.
if its an avi/mpeg or similar then media player should play it.
or it could be an ISO or bin/cue file these are a bit different.
let me know what type it is and i can give you the info you need.

To my knowledge winace just does .Zip and .Ace file formats.

If you want one that'll open both I suggest 7-zip
(7-zip.org) or for Macs The Unarchiver (http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html)

Opens all major formats, including .RAR. Free to boot.

it's kinda hard to understand what exactly is wrong.. did you already extract it? well, if you already got WinAce to extract it and can't play the fomat it's in then try VLC media player. It plays almost all formats in existance.
(http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) also free

Hey there,
The best program to decompress files is Winrar, you can unzip all kind of files!(.zip, .rar, .7z, .iso, .tar, .jar, .cab, .gz, .ace, .uue, .bz2, etc...)
Check here http://j.mp/1p3Psco if you want to get Winrar for free

RAR is an archive format, like ZIP or TAR. Many programs will read it; among them are WinRar (Windows) and (I think) Stuffit (Mac).
