One, the old boys club, you get an AUTOMATIC admission regardless of grades, With affirmative action you still have to meet the "eligibility" requirements and have the grades!
Talk about discrimination!
And it doesn't stop there. Almost all schools, even private, like Duke, have policies which basically preclude higher eligible with much higher grades and eductional background from being admitted as they have quota's on out of state admissions!
Affirmative action for minorities and women are always being attacked by conservatives! They seem to ignore the rest of Affirmative action for the rich exists! How do you think a C- Grad of Yale got into Harvard Graduate School of Business? I couldn't, and neither could 96% of America!

There are a number of differences, foremost among them is the fact that affirmative action is mandated by law while the so called "old boy's club" was an informal activity that people engaged in voluntarily. Affirmative Action is another kind of state mandated racism and sexism. A lot more like Jim Crow laws than the old boy's club.

because you may't go in the course of the discrimination of Affirmative action until eventually you're white and/or male lower than Affirmative action the black is continually given precedence over the white sufferer & the female is continually given precedence over the male sufferer As a white male I have confronted the racial and sexual bigotry of Affirmative action once when I outscored a black female co-worker on a try that basically both human beings took in our civil service dept. I scored a ninety 2 and she scored a seventy 8 yet she replaced into given the pastime promoting. On yet another pastime i replaced into up for an unskilled union manager pastime alongside with a black male co-worker who replaced into my age yet had a lot less seniority & experience than I did. Pickets from center picketed the shape website with signs and indications annoying " supply The pastime To the Black guy . the subsequent day the foreman instructed me he had to provide the pastime to the black male the base line is you may't win if you're a white male.

One difference is that affirmative action is an attempt to balance out the inequalities and imbalances over generations due to the 'good ole white boy's club' ; whereas, the 'good ole white boy's club''s purpose is to outright discriminate.
Ppl that believe affirmative action is discrimination have never actually read the wording of it... IE, we do NOT have quotas in this country.
It is simply an action whose purpose is to make corporations, universities, etc.. more 'aware' when they hire, accept, etc...
Another difference is that A. Action does not oppress any other group.... rather, it balances.

Well maybe one day you will be passed over for a job that you are highly qualified for some unqualified "quota" . That is the way of affirmative action. It is reverse discrimination.
Affirmative Action is for those that ignore the reality that the government tells an employer who and who not to hire based purely on sex and race

I tried to join the good ol boys club once. We were drinking chasing women and I met Ted Kennedy there. I had a blast. Bad hangover. Ted held up pretty good though.

Affirmitive Action is a law in this day and age that judges people based solely on their gender or color of their skin. It favors some races or one gender over another. This is inherently sexist and racist. Think about it. Racism is favoring one person of a certain race over the other. This is what AA is all about. Race and gender favoritism. To assert that the "old boys club" with connections is as rampant and giving as much help to white men as AA does to minorities is absurd. The percentage of people who are actually well connected in this country is miniscule.
But AA casts doubt on those minorities who get their degrees, it makes their degrees suspect to employers, and serves to harm the minority communities FAR more than it will do to help them. It wides the racial rift in this country, the gender inequalities, and supports an idea of some people being more equal than others. This is strictly inequality, and pushes us back hundreds of years.
The only way for the races to be equal, the only way for genders to be equal, its to promote a society of equality where none are favored over others...

Affirmative action is wrong because it requires the government to get into the entitlement business.
I have no problem with women and minorities aligning.
I do it all the time.
