As the limousine left Love Field on 11/22/63, Secret Service agents were removed from JFK's limousine. Why? Is there an explaination for this behavior? Also, why did it take the Secret Service a long time to react to the shots being fired at JFK? And why did the limousine slow down?

Here's some interesting info, including quotes from the Secret Service. Most were not removed (although the motorcycle cadre was reduced from eight to four); but one agent began to jog alongside the limo and was called back by his superior. The superior also ordered agents not to move after the first shot was heard.

The limo supposedly slowed down because they were going around a curve.

They were right there catching Jackie when she ran out on to the trunk of the car. They reacted quickly but it only took one shot...or two... or three... or another one from the grassy knowl... or two from there.
