The greatest common factor is the largest number that will divide, that is, factor into, the given numbers. The name is a little misleading because the GCF is always less than or equal to the smallest of the numbers. To find it, look at the set of all factors and take the product of those that occur in all the numbers. (set intersection) So for your first set, the GCF is 7, and for the second set, the GCF is 8.
A related concept, also with a misleading name, is the least common multiple. That's the smallest number that all the numbers will divide into, and it's always greater than or equal to the largest of the numbers in the set. To find this one, look at the set of all factors, and take the product of any factors that occur in either of the sets. (set union). Here, it's 3 x 8 x 5 x 11 = 1320.

We can all give you the answer to this question, **OR** you can learn the method to find the GCF of any set of natural numbers.

Please visit:

http://videomathtutor.com/BasicMath/Lesson05.html

To learn how to do this. It is free. You can watch the video or read the notes, or both! (which I recommend).

Good Luck!
