If a girl is like 6 months, or maybe longer along in pregnancy, why do some colleges not want to accept them once they find out? I've just always wondered it...

That's not legal, it's discrimination. Employers also cannot turn down an applicant simply because she is pregnant. This is the same as turning someone away because they have a disability, or because they are gay or you don't like their religion. It's absolutely against the law. I have never heard of a college refusing to accept someone because she is pregnant. If there is one, they can get in a lot of trouble for doing so.

Besides, it's not like they see you face to face before they accept you. How would they ever know?

It's alot easier if the mother were to quit school, then take it back up after the baby is born. That way, they can pick up, right where they left off, instead of having to play 2+ month catch up!

And if something were to happen to the mother and/or baby before the baby was born, the school could be held responsible i.e. wet floor, badly placed equipment, bad ceiling, bad flooring, ect. It's the same thing with a work place. They won't hire a woman that's pregnant past a certain point. It isnt' discriminitory, or whatever. It's just policy. There's nothing anyone can do about it, otherwise you wouldn't have to have asked this question. Colleges and work places would accept pregnant woman, no matter how far along.

The main reason they do this, is to look after the baby for one. And for two, to look after the mother. If you have a sick or hurt mother, the baby won't have a very good fighting chance would it??

I've never heard of a college that didn't accept a pregnant student. I know around here they accept them, they even have on site day care facilities.

Because the school loses that tuition once the girl is out on maternity leave, they cannot fill that student space in the middle of the year or semester. Its not financially viable, and it also shows on the schools statistics as a 'drop out', making the school less appealing to new students.

Is that even legal? I would imagine they have to accept anyone that meet the requirements. I think it's considered discrimination if they decline you for being pregnant.

Most due, but the reason would be that the mom would be out for six weeks, it would be hard, but not impossible, to catch up and stay on top of the assignments and tests.
