I wonder which one people tend to accept more. I accept homosexuality/bisexuality more because i know people who are. It would be hard for me to accept trans sexuality because i have never met anyone and i am not used to that a lot. But now i am starting to accept it more and find it normal and common. What about you guys?

I have learned how to accept these groups of people more. But it was harder for me to accept trans sexuality.

Yes, people definitely tend to accept homosexuality and even bisexuality more than transsexuality. Why is this?

Well, straight people can accept homosexuality because they are actually very similar- they both love one sex. To get into that mindset, all they have to think is "What if I liked all guys instead of all girls?", and even if they don't like the outcome, they understand it, and are hence more compassionate towards homosexuals.

Bisexuals, on the other hand, in my experience, don't get much acceptance, from either side (gay or straight) . . . sometimes I feel we're the most maligned group, although I know there are those out there who have it worse. We get accused of being greedy, polyamorous, really gay or straight but in denial, really gay or straight but pretending to be bisexual to get perks or avoid condemnation, being indecisive, 'in a phase', sex-maniacs, commitment-phobic cheaters, carriers of AIDS from the gay to straight community, and so on. It's very unfair how many people think bisexuality isn't real or is a sinful, decadent lifestyle.

But that's just me ranting. Transsexuality is by far the least comprehensible type of life for most people to understand, because it's so far removed from them and their experiences, as well as it involves so much. Most people, feeling perfectly happy and fine in their gender identity, can't even imagine how it would be to feel a mind-body disconnect like gender dysphoria. Sometimes, feeling that way, they don't even believe it exists. Other people acknowledge it, but still can't get past the fact that being a transsexual requires so much surgery, and hormones, money, and time. I've heard people call it 'genital mutiliation', instead of sex reassignment surgery, and a lot of people believe that is all it is because even with all the changes, one can never become a 'real' man or woman, since they don't have the chromosomes. Mix it into the whole concept of "God doesn't make mistakes", and there are some people who are absolutely vehment about transsexuality, while they happily accept homosexuality. And I have a feeling that a big factor is about the allure of transsexuals. A straight man can ignore a gay man, but when he sees a gorgeous woman and becomes aroused, only to find out she is a pre-op transsexual, he feels tricked, and worries about his sexual orientation. It's this place of fear about ones' self from where violence and hatred comes from- a way to deflect realizing or having to face certain truths.

It's sad how maligned transsexuals are, but I'm glad that you are starting to accept it and find it normal and common. You make me proud!

I definitly agree. Homosexuals and Bisexuals are getting more attension these days with the media, as both groups are becoming more vocal. We hear about them on tv and the radio and read about them in the newspaper. Often times trans-sexuals get the brunt of many jokes. Perhaps because the group is less vocal, or perhaps because there are actually fewer trans-sexuals, there doesn't seem to be much coverage. Understanding leads to tolerance, and many people simply don't understand trans-sexuals. I think it is slowly becoming more common and more accepted, but definitly not as much as the other two groups.

Hi Hon! I am Henry O from Ridgetown, Ont. Canada. I am a transvestite. I am married, but for some reason I have a sexual elation when wearing woman's underwear! I wear only pink panties. But about three times a year I like to go all the way. I am a good looking male of 59. but I look much younger. My wife is not at all concerned with this fetish, and we have been happily married for over 24 years. Yes, I do get a sexual rush from it, but I can dontrol it if I have to. When I was 8 years old, I was sexually abused by a sister, who was under 17 years old. I forgive her, I love her more than anything in this world. My best friends have always been girls, and I feel absolutely free with them even becoming a nurse, and the only male nurse who is allowed to give personal care to women! I know it's probably not your choice to have a male nurse, but I love all people, and I want to help! Something that almost destroyed my character is when I helped an accident victim who was bleeding profusely from a breast. I nursed her as best I could, and she turned around and charged me with sexual assaultI But If you needed help, I would still give you my care! Thanks for asking!

Trans sexuality is so far removed from my life experience that I don't give it much thought. I accept that it exists, and I have no problem with the fact that people like that do exist. But, personally, I would have absolutely no romantic or sexual interest in a gay FTM TS because the thought of a guy with a vagina or a surgically created pseudo-phallus squicks me out.

I would say no. I accept trans-sexuality. I got in panty hose and a dress and walked around out-side. That doesn't mean that I would ever, ever, have relations with a guy.

To be honest, I know and accept straight, gay, and bi people. Trans sexuality I know little of. At first hear, I have to admit feeling a little spooked by the thought of a male giving up his penis, however, I want to be open minded, unlike those gits who posted they only accept straights. Please, people, get over your homophobe biases. No wonder some gays are hetero phobes!

I guess thats true. I accept homosexuality and bisexuality. But I neither understand transexualily nor know anyone transexual. So its kind of hard for me to accept. If it was more widespread (information vise), they'll be accepted once people know what it is about.

What I find FUNNY is the ones who are for GAY Marriage yet become offended when they are lumped in a category with Polygamists and people involved with incest..NOW they know how Heterosexuals feel about Gays wanting to contaminate *MARRAIGE* by marrying thier own sex.

Pedophiles feel they are born that way and cannot help their love for children, so what if your born a certain way is the USA suppose to sanction everyone who feels a certain way and define themselves as a homosexual or bisexual or pedophile..

I am not being hateful but not everyone can dictate one's feelings about themselves and change the laws that have been in place for a civilized society.

I accept anyone that is good, honest, and doesn't hurt others or push their politics and views on others. That's basically all I care about. I find that it doesn't matter what I *accept* or *don't accept*, the world keeps turning regardless of what I accept, lol. Take care.

it is easier to except someone for who they sleep with, than it is to accept someone who thinks they got the wrong body.
especially when those people aren't nessacarily straight or gay. a guy woh beomces a woman may be attracted to female or males, same for a girl who becomes a male. people don't liek things that can't be easily expalined
