Yes, you can put your Cingular SIM into a T-Mobile phone.
Your T-Mobile phone might be "locked" to only accept T-Mobile SIM cards, but your local non-corporate phone store might be able to "unlock" the phone for you. Once the phone is "unlocked" you can put in a SIM card for any carrier (except Nextel) and your phone will work with that SIM card.
If you're in Los Angeles, you can come to my store and I can unlock it for you. My store's address is:
Tricom Wireless
2134 W. Sunset Blvd. Suite A
Los Angeles, CA 90026

Dont believe that guy down there - what hes offering to do is illegal and violates contracts between cell companies. If you really want a phone that will accept your cingular sim card look on ebay. I work for the Cingular Wireless Business Markets group so believe me when I say that if for some reason Cingular finds out you arent using an approved device they will shut off your service. Also, the Tmobile guy is probably unaware that in the past 2 weeks most companies have begun altering their policies on locked phones. Previously all you needed was a pin number from customer service to alter a phone but now you must fill out a form and have it approved by both companies to open a phone because the unlocking process was previously done each time someone transferred their number to a new service.

Triple 6 Soul is the right one here. It is NOT illegal!!! I know this mainly because i was a t-mobile employee and have unlocked several phones in my time with the company. Triple 6 Soul has a store run by what are called "indirect dealers". these stores do not run straight through the company, but are able to work with certain providers and their phones. If you are not in LA, I would try an indirect dealer near you (call Cingular and ask for indirect dealer locations) and see if they get that phone unlocked for you. Good luck!

Nope, unless your phone is an open line. Mobile phone companies lock their phones to there network, so it can't be used with a different sim card. If you are through with your contract with tmobile. Call them and ask that your phone be opened. They'll do it for you. I heard of softwares that unlock phones (you;ll need a cable or bluetooth to do this) but I don't know if their legal
