I'll say what I said to the Scottish bird asking for a St. Andrews Day. St. George's, St. Andrew's and St. David's Day are not public holidays in their respective countries, whereas in Ireland St. Patrick's Day is an actual holiday. Also, because yahoo answers is oriented towards the U.S. and Patrick's is the only one they celebrate in any number.

Because that would offend almost everyone anyone can think of and be seen as possibly 'nationalistic' which is an even bigger thought crime than wondering whether St Georges day should be a holiday or not. ....Not!
An idea: Why don't we make it a holiday - on St Georges day all the English should just take the day off until the authorities get the message and make it official.

Because certain people will take it upon themselves to turn this day into a racism festival as already St George's flag is associated with bigots and racism. Plus St George wasn't even English but Turkish so i don't see why they should have a national holiday or festival for a non english.

Becasue in America St. Patricks day has no religous meaning, It has become a celebration of Irish-American culture ( I say Irish American because Corned Beef is a Traditional Jewish Food.) St. Georges day would either be a religous day or an English celebration, and well America has no intrest in celebrating its nglish Heritage.

Let's be frank, who the heck does celebrate St. Georges day? It's not about being allowed to, not about political correctness, it's about apathy!
Most English People would consider St George as a Turkish immigrant!

St Andrew's day isn't a holiday in Scotland. Who wants a holiday at the end of November, in place of a nice warm, sunny one?

Because big business and the government here in England do not want us to have a day off!! In England we have the least Public Holidays in the whole of Europe. We have to let Muslims celebrate Ramadam or whatever, Hindus celebrate Dewali or whatever. Us poor English scum never get a chance to celebrate being English in our own country. The whole stinking hypocrisy of it all boils our blood!!
