GPA: 3.7 (A)

What are some colleges in the Northeast (especially Mass.) Should i consider applying for? I am NOT looking for a Community College, Junior Colleges, States Colleges, or Public Colleges and and nothing along those lines because they are horriable. I am looking for a 4-year+, Private University, with tons of sciene courses/math. Money is not a problem in my case. k thanks.

The answer is somewhat dependent on what other qualifications you bring to the table -- extracurriculars, music/sports, leadership, work, community service. Good to know breakdown of SAT scores, as well, and what you might be interested in studying. And, how many honors/AP courses have you taken and is that a weighted GPA or not?

That said, there are many good private liberal arts colleges in the NE and many good schools overall, including but not limited to the following: Bowdoin, Colgate, Colby, Williams, Amherst, Wesleyan, Middlebury, Cornell, Hamilton. Some of these are in MA, some are not. Your SAT scores certainly don't immediately qualify you, but perhaps you have the right overall "package" for these schools, I don't know. There are many other good schools in MA and in the NE that you can/should consider.

Suggest you do some serious legwork on your own, including:

1) Fiske Guide to Colleges (book; buy or see at school/local library)
2) www.collegeboard.com
3) www. princetonreview.com
4) US News and World Report College Rankings website (cost for premium content)

Best of luck to you.

Look at Bucknell University. They are a small private university in central PA wtih about 4000 students. They have excellent science, math, and engineering programs. 5th in the nation for ME and 3rd for ChemE for schools not offering a PhD. The campus is beautiful as well but it is on the expensive side and very hard to get into. The average SAT score is 1350 and 70% are in the top 10% of their HS class.
