Nintendo have admitted that they have a problem with the straps and are supplying all the outlets with replacements, you just go into any shop and change straps. (At least that`s what it said on the local news yesterday.)

Nintendo has launched a site that allows Wii owners to request replacement straps for their accident-prone Wii-motes. The request form can be found here:

U.S. & Canada: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/strapreplace.jsp
Europe: http://wii.nintendo.co.uk/6315.html

So if you own a Wii and have the original, weaker straps -- please, do your TV, your dog, your siblings, your coffee table -- whatever may be the unfortunate victim of your over-excitement -- a favor, and replace your Wii-mote straps.
