Publisher Behind O.J. Simpson Book Fired
Dec 16, 3:26 AM EST

Extra! Extra! The press release arrived with a headline worthy of Rupert Murdoch: HARPERCOLLINS TERMINATES JUDITH REGAN. So ended, at least for now, one of the book world's most profitable and provocative careers.

Regan, O.J. Simpson's would-be publisher, has been fired, her sensational tenure at the Murdoch-owned HarperCollins finished off with the tersest of announcements.

"Judith Regan's employment with HarperCollins has been terminated effective immediately," HarperCollins CEO Jane Friedman said in a statement late Friday. "The REGAN publishing program and staff will continue as part of the HarperCollins General Books Group."

Friedman offered no reason for the decision or details of any kind. But her statement comes just weeks after Murdoch's cancellation of Simpson's hypothetical murder confession, "If I Did It,"

I think she deserved it, how crass she is.

I'd say so. Anyone stupid enough to try to publish a book called "If I Did it," about *ahem*if*ahem* O.J. had murdered someone, how he *ahem*would've*ahem* done it should not be a publisher in the first place. It would probably make a TINY bit more sense if it was just called "I Did it," but whatever...

It's hard to say definitively whether she deserved to be fired or not, because her employer gave precious little (well, actually NO reasons) for why she got the axe.

That being said, I did not approve of her intended book about O.J. Simpson, "If I Did It", as it seemed like one of the most cynical of exploitative efforts in modern history. Would that we could all of us cash in on something so dark and sordid, and make lots of money and a big name for ourselves in the process, eh?? LOL/vomit

Good night, and good luck, and keep fighting for truth, justice and righteousness, people!!! Col. Kurtz.
