I've had to deal with that problem in my room here at the Old Soldiers' Home.

I left the windows wide open, ran a couple of fans full blast, and saturated the place with can after can of Lysol room deodorizer and disinfectant.

It took an awful long time, and I was real sick when I first moved in.

Part of the problem was a big gap between the vent and the inner wall, with smokers living on the floor below me.

The problem was eventually fixed when Maintenance caulked up the big gap between the vent and the inner wall.

I'd clean the carpet with ammonia and wipe the walls down with pinesol instead of vinegar. And after it dries use Febreze on the blinds or shades if there are some that were also effected. I just moved into a place that smelled too and it's not like that now.

The paint store has a special cleaning product, mainly used to clean the walls before you paint them over again. It should take the smelly layer away i think. Otherwise fresh air, flowers or leave vinegar in a jar in the middle of the room for a while..

yeah that will work. clean the carpet with a citrus cleaner. keep the windows open as much as possible. but i think once you clean the carpet it should go down a lot. vacuum the mattress, if there is one in the bedroom. you could go out and get one of those air purifiers too. they seem to work

"man", "some one" and "Julia" are mischevious pranksters who have found a way into Yahoo's programming and not only are they mimicing the questions posed by real participants, but they also offer a very suspicious link that smart people shoud NOT CLICK ON: it may be a virus, dialer virus or spyware seeder trap.

It's evident that "man", "some one" and "Julia" are also ZOOMING fast up the participant level ladder too; they may be seeking to snatch up points. Eventually, Yahoo administration will find a way to foil their plans.....here's your chance to kick a spammer in the balls:

ALL responsible participants of Yahoo Answers forum need to report these pranksters when they're seen. They may change names, but their MO is the same and they're easy to spot.

Is there any carpet? I would suggest getting someone to steam clean the carpets.

You will probably have to wipe/wash everything down and shampoo the carpets ....Smoke gets on EVERYTHING....
Including the windows...

I've heard of success with tanic acid solutions but you have to be careful with staining rugs, furniture etc...Undoubtedly you will also have to repaint.
