In two ways. 1) There is a portion of that money spent on them that goes to military organizations. 2) It shows our support of the soldiers in a very public way. When our soldiers come home (even though most of them are being redeployed) it must be a little heartening to see car after car with these magnets showing that we love and support our troops. Sometimes, it's the little things that mean a lot.

Donate to the DAV National Service Foundation.
It's easy,
They know how our Military operations go and they provide services to support them abroad and at home. The money donated to the DAV National Service Foundation is used to keep the Veteran's Hospitals Services available for the troops return to us.
If we can't find a way to keep our Military out of the messes the world and it's leaders gets us involved in, the Least we can do is send a few dollars to the DAV National Service Foundation to keep the VA Hospitals running.
I may be wrong, I thought some of the money that was used to pay for those magnates was supposed to be used to support our troops through the organization that made the magnates.
I'll check and see if they were when I see another stand selling the magnates.

Well, for one, buying it alone contributes to our economy, which helps acquire more money for the troops. But I don't think that it's made for the purpose of supporting our troops. Having one is saying "I support our troops, and I think that you should too."

I don't know about where you come from, but here in Everett, WA, if you buy one on base at the Navy Exchange, the money goes to the USO, which is a major supporter of the troops.

It shows that, at the very least, you support the mission that the troops are over there to accomplish and you want them to succeed at it. In other words, it shows you're not a liberal Democrat.
