No....you cannot relate masses in a chemical reaction, you have to do it by moles.

So, if no of moles = mass/molar mass,

you have 8 / 2 = 4 moles of hydrogen
and 2 / 32 = 0.0625 moles of oxygen.

Since 2H2 + O2 --> 2H2O

the oxygen is the limiting reagent, and so you should get no more than 0.0625 x 2 = 0.125 moles of water.

Mass = no of moles x molar mass = 0.125 x 18 =2.25g of water (theoretical yield)

No. You have 8/2 moles H2, but only 2/32 moles O2. So there is not nearly enough O2 for all the H2 to react.

The theoretical mass of product will be 2/32 x 2 x 18g. Most of the hydrogen will not react.
