Although I'm sure she means well, I can't stand her trying to clean my house when she's over with my son for dinner. She does not do a very good job, and sometimes I feel she is actually damaging surfaces when she uses Windex on everything (even though I've asked her many times not to use it).

Is there a nice way of telling her not to clean up? I'd rather just do it myself.

Just tell her not to do it! I think it's a horrible invasion of provacy, especially since you have your own way you like to do it. Hide your cleaning supplies and tell her she is not allowed to bring any. You don't have to be cross or holler at her, just use your normal tone of voice and don't get drawn into a fight over it.

Yea, Tell her to not touch the cleaning supplies that you prefer to do your own cleaning, then grab gently the Windex and put it away. People like this no matter what you do are going to get their feelings hurt. By the way never do the same at her place. Good Luck.

Hide the Windex, and give her another task or chore to do. Something like sorting or cutting coupons.

Think about your priorities. If you really are freaking out over Windex (which is not terribly caustic and won't hurt much) then hand her whatever cleaner you prefer & say, "try this stuff, it's great!" But seriously, think about your priorities. Family > possessions, no?

I'm the same way, I don't care for other people to clean up, only because it is a relaxing time for me, that's when I do my best thinking!!
