I mean... a lout wearing shoes and a shirt doesn't behave any better than a lout wearing trainers and a t-shirt, so what exactly is the point of dress codes in pubs and nightclubs? I've been in countries where dress codes are unheard of in most places and there is never any trouble.

The actual reasoning behind Dress Codes are that although I agree a lout is a lout, a lout who has spent alot of money (relatively speaking) on expensive clothes, is less likely to want to ruin it by getting into fights and brawls.

As for no trouble in other countries...this is down to the fact that alcohol is generally introduced (as a socially acceptable past-time) alot earlier in a persons life......and therefore is more controlled and rarely abused.

Most places with dress codes are trying to keep a certain atmosphere and clientele. Without a dress code some people take advantage of the situation and are disrespectful about it and take it to the extreme. I don't usually frequent those places, because I prefer a more laid back atmosphere, but I do understand why some places have them.

There is no point, the morons who manage such places seem to think that the drug taking, drug dealing, crooks who wear suits are a better class of person than normal people but as anyone who has any brains now they are the cause of most violence, drugs offences and general trouble in pubs and clubs, it will never change as long as these brain dead idiots are in charge.

I agree with you, no point at all. I worked in an office for many years wearing a pin stripped suit. To this day I can't see the point.
