I live in Central Florida, and we have very mild winters. I have used my heat only for about two days so far, the rest of the time I've had AC on or the fans going.
Present temperatures are in the 70's during the day.
I am accustomed to this type of weather and enjoy it. I guess it is a matter of preference and what you are used to, but I just freeze if I spend time in cold climates during the winter months.
I don't think I could adapt to shoveling snow, scraping ice off windshields, unfreezing "stuck" car doors, bundling up in layers of clothing, etc.
While some aspects of winter seem cozy, and the picture-perfect snow scenes are certainly beautiful, I prefer Florida weather. My "winter" gear consists of a short fleece jacket and a pair of heavy socks to wear with my tennis shoes.
It's warm enough right now to sit on my back porch and sip iced tea or a glass of chilled wine!
Cheers!

The closer to the equator you get, the warmer it will be all year round. This is why in some areas of the country they get snow only at higher elevations, that is in the mountains.
As you pass the equator the seasons reverse, winter in the US is summer in Argentina.
This is caused by the axial tilt of the earth, and how the surface is presented to the sun. This is why the sun is higher in the sky at noon in the summer, and why the poles will have very long days in summer, and nights in winter.

I live in New Hampshire and usually we have snow by now (December) but in the recent years, cuz of global warming, it's been getting warmer and we had less snow. Many ski areas had to go out of business too.
RIGHT NOW instead of snow and skiing and sledding and stuff, we have temps around 50-60 duringt he day and 30-49 at night.
The grass is green the sun is shining ... unfortunately.

I now live in Spokane Washington, where we definitely have winter. I used to live in Southern California. It was kinda weird going outside at Christmas and wearing shorts and t-shirts.
