The Quakers were extremely anti-slavery. The settlers of Maryland were primarily Catholic. In Rhode Island, the settlers were pretty much the people who weren't accepted anywhere else. Although Maryland was active in the slave trade, South Carolina was even more active.

The earlier respondent is correct; the Quakers were some of the loudest voices in the anti-slavery (and later, anti-war) movement. Maryland was settled primarily by Catholics; other colonies did not want them. Other unwanted groups (particularly Jews) also settled in Maryland. I am pretty sure that Georgia and the Carolinas (especially South) were more active in the slave trade. However, a number of slaves that ended up in the deeper South enterd the colonies through ports in Maryland. So in a sense, yes, Maryland was very active in the trade. As everyone else said Quakers were ardently antislavery. I can't really speak to Maryland's activity in the slave trade but I can tell you this: Maryland had freedom of practice for all CHRISTIAN sects, it was founded as a haven for Roman Catholics though who were denied freedom of worship in England and most of the colonies.
