The appalacian moutains along the east coast are the oldest and at one time were taller than the rockies however over the millenia they have eroded to their present state.

Probably the Appalachians. I remember being told when I was young and living in Pennsylvania that our mountains were mere hills compared to the ones out west because they were so very much older and had been eroding for so very much longer. There are other reasons, such as the type of rock and the weathering agents, but basically, they are very old.
