80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

this question has an infinite number of answers and each is as different as the person answering your question.
I will do my best to give you a unique answer. Life is part of the universe we live in. A natural part that is always there and always has been. If you have control of your life then you can make it what it is. If you don't then someone else will tell you what to do with it.
Simply put. you are part of something too big to consider and yet you are an intimate part of it all.

The meaning of life is what you want it to be. If you want to live because of people you love, then that is your meaning of life. If someone lived because they want to try to become rich, then that is there meaning of life. Everyone has there own meaning of life.

Life is what you make of it. It's about living your dreams and accomplishing your goals. The meaning of life is to find who you are, and make the most of time.

To live and let live. To live with the consequences of life until God comes.
Dictionary definition: the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body or purely chemical matter.

We lived with God before we came here.
We're here to be tested and tried, to bless others, and to gain experience and refinement.
When we die, we will be judged by God and the appropriate reward meted out.
While here, we must learn LOVE--the love God has for us(agape), love for our fellow man (filial), and love with a dear companion (eros).
Good luck on YOUR journey.
