I know the tip should probably be based on what services you receive and or what ever you feel like giving them. Is a tip a must though?

What do you typically tip?

For women of color the service to be received today is as follows: A retouch and possible trim and the stylist typically will charge $75.00 for this service.

I'm a hairstylist and my clients tip me 15% to 20% of the cost of service. i think this is fair if you're really happy with the work.
