First the obvious... do you have a DVD reader on computer?
Assuming you do, I use Clone DVD and Any DVD, both available at:

Any DVD removes copy protection and Clone DVD copies the DVD, and also sets up a "virtual DVD drive" for playing them from.

DVDs are copyright protected against ripping, that's why Windows XP Media Edition won't rip them. You can find some freeware and retail software that will rip DVDs (such as DVDCopy), but, the software may or may not be able to crack the encryption.

However, here's a guide on ripping DVDs that you might find useful: http://www.wikihow.com/Rip-DVDs

I would try opening the dvd folder and try to copy the files to my computer.
