You can hold federal office if you are from Texas or Nevada and have a felony

A felony conviction (in the US at least) already bars a person from running for public office...so there aren't any leaders with felony records.

As for misdemeanors...well, it may depend on what the crime was, but for the most part: I don't care. As long as someone is an effective leader, I don't care if they made a mistake somewhere in their past. I'd rather have a good leader with a misdemeanor on his record than a squeaky-clean idiot.

Oh you mean get the real Americans out of office. Let's not forget that the other guys don't have "criminal backgrounds" because they were born into enuff money to fix the problem without it showing up on their record.
