It was one of the worst movies ever. With the exception of the fellow who played Brom (and Jon Malkovitch of course), the acting was horrible. The story line barely resembled the book and it was so low budget that the only impressive effect was the dragon.

Waste of time and money. It pains me to say this because I liked the book, but the movie doesn't even warrant a rental. I hope they aren't going to try to make a sequel out of it.

I saw it yesterday. I was very enthusiastic about this movie, but kept my hopes somewhat reserved as I have a tendency to paint vivid pictures in my mind when reading a book. The movie was a major disappointment, especially to those who enjoyed the book. There was no lead-in, no character development, no continuity. Some scenes in the movie had no bearing on the story in the movie, but were of great importance to the book. The training and instruction that Brom gave Eragon in the book was extremely abbreviated in the movie. There were major characters from the book present in the movie, yet they were not introduced or even mentioned by name. Some important characters from the book were completely omitted. Another huge problem is that in the movie, the humans, elves, dwarves, urgals are all about the same in size and appearance. Elves don't have an elvish appearance at all, and the dwarves are not even mentioned as a race. The graphics are good. The scenery is good. Fair camera work. A solid waste of acting prowess though, in that Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Rachel Weisz are much better than this movie allows. A ten-year old boy that I walked out behind after the movie summed it up best with: "That sucked." If you go this movie, it will be 103 minutes of your life you will never get back. Not even a good DVD to rent, much less own.

Yes, I've seen the movie.

I've read many questions and answers to do with the movie ERAGON on this site. And answered many too.

My biggest find:
- If you've read the book and loved it, you're likely to be disappointed by the movie - because it changes much of the story.
(This ofcourse however is not always the case, as I know some who still loved the movie.)

- If you're just a fantasy/adventure lover, (and havn't read the book) then you'll love the movie ERAGON.

- If you're not particularly taken by fantasy/adventure unless it's extremely good (like Lord of the Rings) then it'll probably not be much to you.

Personally, I loved it.
I'm a fantasy/adventure lover and havn't read the book.
I think it was well done. Not terribly orignial, but well done.

If you go into ERAGON expecting to see your beloved story on screen, you may be disappointed.

...or you may not. The thing is, if you look at the movie ERAGON as a movie alone, and seperate it from the book, (I find,) it's a good film.

It all depends on you! you never know. ; )
I really hope that you can enjoy it. : )

My Rating: 9/10

Other recommendations: Watch the movie before you read the book. ; )

I haven't, but I've been blown away by how atrocious the reviews and internet feedback have been. I thought it looked disappointing, from what I could see, but I had no idea it'd be this across the board horrific.

On rotten tomatoes (a website that collects reviews and then gives a rating based on the average %) at one point yesterday it had a rating of 8%. That's 8 out of 100. that's terrible.

I was going to see it, being a fan of the book, but now I'm not.

I haven't yet, but a friend who is a big fan of fantasy and dragons told me not to bother, that it pretty much sucked.

I was planning on it, but after all the negative I heard, I think I'll pass. Maybe I'll check it out on DVD.
