i was just looking in the bios of a athlon xp 1.15ghz system before i sold it and just for curiosity i changed the cpu to a 1800+.not realisong that its clock speed is now 1.53ghz
is this stable to run at this speed as if it is i will keep it at this speed and change the price acordingly,as they are getting 450mhz extra,i am tempeted to keep the computer and use it for some overclocking
i didnt realise that amd chips were this overclockable, what would happen if i increased a intel processor by the same amount...would it fry?
thanks

Thats quite a good OC for an older socket a cpu but to make sure it's stable get prime95 and run the torture test while monitoring the temperature of the cpu to make sure it won't fry. Try motherboard monitor to keep a track of your temps. You can also try replacing the reference heatsink with an arctic cooling model to keep your temps down further.

It's unlikely you could get that sort of oc with a pentium 4 as they run quite hot to begin with however the core 2 duo chips are very good overclockers and run much cooler
