It's just all in the mind. Most of us have experienced someone calling your name, sometimes either in a familiar voice (Mum) or in a voice that is not familiar to you, and when you look you are alone in the house. A mystery. Not really, its actually quite common - over 50% of people have had that experience, and its completely in your head. Are you mad, no - as its a rare occurrence. Progress to full conversations and you wind up in the funny farm though. Ghosts are just a variation of the same thing but accompanied by a hallucination. No one who has seen a ghost can prove a ghost exists, but hallucinations DO and are a recorded fact. People have conversations with 'people' that are not there, just in their imagination. Add the atmos: a dark 'spooky' house, a storm with plenty of lightening, a hooting owl and your imagination will do the rest.

I've never seen a Ghost but I do believe in at least the possibility of their existence. I have an interest in such subjects and plan to consider them on my 360 Page after Christmas.

I strongly urge that yourself and everyone else reading this to be aware of frauds and hoaxes. The idea of Ghosts and a Spirit-World is still a very subjective realm despite various discussions, people's beliefs and "proven facts".

From the Victorian Era right until today, there are many recorded events of unmoral people committing various hoaxes and frauds which are clearly designed to exploit people's beliefs in this matter and to exploit the grief of these people who have lost a loved one and who are seeking some kind of understanding of the world.

I always try and respect the beliefs of those who believe in the Paranormal but I feel the urge to scream at those who take a face-value all that they encounter because these people are at the most danger of being exploited.

Few things make me as angry as people who exploit others in this subject.

Please Take Care Everyone :-)

I personally think that ghosts are a trick of both the eye and the mind. Try this, hold your hand out in front of you. Your eyes look at the hand, send the message to brain, in your memory bank in your brain it registers and you see "hand." Now, supposing this is reversed the brain tells you to see something that isn't there...like a short circuit...there is your ghost. Also, everything gives off energy and the energy can be measured. We have something called electro magnetic resonance (this is where the electron will spin) and we can measure and hold this. Further more we can contain and use energy for lasers and nuclear power. So when someone is measuring energy given off by a ghost we should be able to capture it. But it never is. It's measured but never captured. Hence...I think they are a trick of the mind as explained at the beginning.

Yes, and several times.

The most vivid was when I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a older woman standing in the bedroom doorway. She was in a full length robe or night coat. The robe looked like something out of the 1890's. At first I thought a friend of my mother must have come over to sleep in the house. I looked closer and the figure began to fade. I asked my mother the next morning and no one else was in the house overnight.

The house we lived in was build in the 1860's on the bluffs of the Mississippi in what is now Burlington, Iowa. It's on the corner of Third & Washington.

I've never seen a ghost but I had odd experiences in my Mum and Dad's house growing up. I would often hear sounds like people moving around the house, up the stairs and things would fly off sides etc.

The weirdest thing that ever happened was that I was sitting upstairs in my bedroom on my bed. I smoked the first cigarette from a pack and couldn't find the pack when I wanted another. I looked really hard for them, threw my duvet and pillow on the floor and shook them out, picked up everything else of my bed - books, a compact mirror, magazines, and threw them on the floor but still couldn't find them. I went downstairs and got another pack from the kitchen and sat downstairs for about 4 hours smoking and watching telly. Nobody else was in the house for all this time.

Now the spooky bit - when I went upstairs my bed was perfectly made and by the pillow the books and magazines I'd thrown on the floor were arranged in a perfect pyramid, smallest at the bottom, biggest at the top. On top of them was the packet of cigarettes with 1 missing - on top of that was the compact mirror folded and stood up to create the point of the pyramid......

I told my Mum later and she said 'Well it's getting a bit far when even the ghosts are hinting you should tidy up your bedroom'.

After I moved out (ten years ago) I never experienced anything similar anywhere else. At the time my parents said they hadn't seen anything similar but about five years after I moved out they admitted they had and they just hadn't admitted it because they didn't want me to be any more scared.

A spirit world DOES exist. It is just another plane of conciousness. I have had many experiences w/ the supernatural not because I was looking for it but because it was just there to begin with (mostly in the U.K.) Yes, there are evil entities. Yes, there are such things as demons but there are also spirits who were once alive like you and me and cannot come to terms with their physical death (usually a violent one where intense emotions are imprinted, etc.) From their lonely spiritual world, they watch the living go about their lives. It causes feelings of jealousy, anger and sadness...sometimes all three.

So for those of you who say spirits/ghosts don't exist ... be able to back that up and to prove that it is indeed evil.

Come to Taiwan if you wanna see ghosts. Once a year(lunar calender) is ghost month, and that is when the gates of hell are open and spirits and demons from the underworld walk the earth. I've not seen one myself but had plenty of bizarre experiences and sensations that can possibly be accredited to ghosts

I've seen them....but only on pictures I've taken with my digital camera. Most of them are obrs, but I have captured a few human-like figures. I got into this about 3 months ago and have been addicted to it ever since. A few friends and I go "ghost hunting" every weekend. I live in Brazoria County, Texas where we have lots of hauntings.

You should try it sometime - it's really fun and exciting. Scary sometimes, but I love the rush!

I do not believe in ghosts, but I do believe in spirits. It is a proven fact by parapsychologists in which evidence shows and states one can come across a living spirit which has not passed over to the other side.

It's a proven fact by the above through much study; these spirits do get noticed because they have not passed over to the other-side by showing themselves whether it be in a form of an apparition or simply doing things to ignite ones curiosity.

These spirits are not in the place where they should be either by a violent death or are simply grounded due to not wanting to leave to go to the other side because they believe there still living.

If I can help you with this, I'm happy.

Good luck to you.

I have never seen one, but i am eager to have that experience. I do believe that spirits exists and there are a lot of people (dead) who just dont know that they are dead or they can not come to terms with their death. they are either lost or confused. and some of them who dont know that they are dead, they dont even know (just like us) that what are they supposed to do now - where they are supposed to go... i know a lot of people who have had that experience, but even though i have lost some close family members, i have never seen/met them after they have left this world. I would love to know more about facts in this regard, but dont know where to look. i have heard of a lot of haunted places - there even exists towns where there are whole group of soldiers who are fighting - still fighting, without knowing that they are dead...but they are visible on a particular day in the year only. dont remember right now, which day is that... but yes, i have heard a lot of such stories... even the experiences shared by a lot of people here was interesting...

i would like to tell people who do not believe in such things only one thing... do not deny anything if you are not sure about it. if we do not know about something, it does not mean it doesnt exists... some1 gave a very good example once regarding this - he said - if you go to a tribal area (a remote one) and show them gun-powder and tell them that it could produce fire and kill people - they will laugh at you. it is just becoz they do not know about it. but that does not mean that it is not true... we know better... so just keep an open mind... there might be a lot of things still out there in the world that we dont know anything about...
