My baby had really bad gas the first couple of months of life. We started on Enfamil then tried Nestle. I noticed that Nestle doesn't dissolve as well as the enfamil. Her gas was better though despite that, but still there. Then we tried Nestle soy and it took a couple of weeks but it made a big difference. I have learned that the best way to mix the formula is with air temperature water. If it is too warm it doesn't dissolve.
I recently tried to wean her to Bright Beginnings soy ( she is four and half months now) becasue it so much cheaper and I wasn't sure if I was set on the Nestle. She was always having greenish poop.I learned that Nestle soy makes a big difference with her. I tried to change gradually over a week. She never even made it to half Nestle half BB without the gas returning.

Have you tried a different bottle? Such as the ones with bags? Playtex makes them. They reduce air from going into the babies. Mine is on Nestle Good Start and she uses the bagged bottles and works great. If that doesn't work, then you may have to switch formulas. Enfamil Lipil with iron was what my daughter used before with no problems. :)

My daughter, who's 2.5 months, is also on Nestle Good Start, and she has always had the most awful gas that I've ever seen in a baby....I'm talking like adult gas...but since it doesn't seem like it bothers her, the dr. said it was fine and that everyone has their own smell and type...that it just differs from baby to baby.

You have a lot of good suggestions and I have one more. Are you using powder formula or liquid? It could be all the bubbles from stirring/mixing/shaking the powder formula with water. One of my son's had the same problem and it was as easy as buying the pre-made liquid.

Avent bottles are wonderful for Gas.
My son was so bad that the doctor wanted to put him on zantac.
We switched to Enfamil Nutramigen. So Expensive but a miracle worker. He calmed down and slept and I was so relieved. Now, at 12 months he is on soy and doing good.
But, the Avent bottles are very nice.

Some babies dont respond well to certain formulas. Try changing brands.

It could be he needs a soy formula.

you can try changing formulas, but most babies are gassy on an formula. you might want to try some gas drops too. they sell them in the baby section at wal-mart. i think we used little tummies, but there are several other brands. the drops never enter the baby's blood stream, so you can give them at every feeding.

another tip.. it may not be the formula at all.. it may be they type of bottle you're using..... Try changing that first, because switching formula on a baby can be rough on their tummies..
