he is the future of the NHL Sid the Kid is a great young player that will only get better. Sidney Crosby is on passe for 153 pts 48 goals and 105 assists. so all you Crosby hatters what do you think now, just because your not a Pens fan doesn't mean you need to bash him, heck i hate the Pens but I will never put a players skills down just because I hate the team, be realistic about it, he is really really good.

Altin K>>>>>if Crosby continues on this passe he will be in the same shoes as Lemieux and Gretzky. Gretzky's second season he had 164 pts Crosby is on passe for 153 pts not bad for a 19 year old, and remember last year Crosby past Lemieux's rookie season points as a rookie. i know its still early but as of now you can give him a little credit cause allot of people are bashing him, not because he hasn't done anything, people are bashing him because he is proving everyone wrong.

Mel>>> YOU ARE RETARDED. He practically wears a big target on his back....everyone hits him and goes after him.
Yes Crosby is the best in the league....he is the NHL points leader even though he missed 3 games, and he doesn't have as much help as some others in the points hunt. He can weave through EHOLE LINES on the ice and score.....you can't make the arguement that there is a more exciting player to watch in the league.

No, he is not. He is only in his second year and still developing. If he continues to develop and play as well as he is then he will become the best player.

You are all forgetting he is on a pretty bad team. Great players find a way to win for their team. While I realize he cannot do it all himself, if he was the best player in the NHL he would find a way to get his team the victory.

Until the Penguins win a cup you cannot tell me he is the best player in the NHL.

If and when they do win a cup then without a doubt he will have proved himself as the best player in the NHL.

By the numbers right now, YES. By his ability and best player, man not sure I could say that. He is great and can't deny his ability but the best in the NHL is a hard thing to say. I'm a Pens fan and I say he is amazing.

According to stats, Crosby is the best this year.
Ovechkin has some amazing goals but is not very consistent like crosby.

I got into the same argument last night and I would have to say...........YES!! This guy is amazing, last year you knew he was going to score alot of points since he was the Penguins main threat offensively. Now he has good talent around him with the emergence of Evgeni Malkin and he still leads the league in points. I love hockey!

notable mentions;
Jagr
Hossa
Heatley
Ovechkin
