I think, over all, that it's very much more accepted than it used to be, but in some parts of the United States, it's still thought of as odd.

Here, in Southern Arizona, in the small town where I grew up, if you weren't married, with one child and pregnant with another by age 22 or 23, at lot of people would look at you strangely and wonder if you're a lesbian, or sick, or something. Then again, teenage pregnancy is so common there that it's actually supported by a lot of people.

It might not be the norm, but it's not considered strange. One of the greatest things about living in this day and age is that we have the freedom to make our own choices and be who we want to be. Don't let anyone try to tell you different. You need to be happy with who you are, not let someone else tell you how to live your life. If you wouldn't be happy as a married woman with children, don't get married or have children.

I don't think its strange at all. I think people are too eager to get married and they don't realize that its work and that is part of the reason so many people are divorced. The other reason there are so many divorces is because people are now taught that marriage doesn't really mean till death do you part it means until you do something to make me mad. Stay single and don't have kids if that's what you want. If someone thinks thats strange tell you you'd rather not go through a divorce.

No way! And don't let no one, whether family or close friends, make you feel worthless. I am not married and do not have kids either and I feel content & free. Instead I wanted to spend more time in Godly devotion. I know God will be the One to find me a mate if the time is right. May you have peace.

It's probably still against the stereotype, but if marriage and kids aren't for you, then go with it. Social barriers are slowly breaking, maybe you're helping!

Not at all, the great thing about life today is that we get to make choices in how we live our lives and it does not have to conform to some expected standard.

i don't see why. not everyone wants that life and it is perfectly normal. you do what you think is best for you. just because marriage and children is the norm doesn't mean that it is right for everyone!!!!!!
