How old is your child? My daughter had the same problem a month ago. She's 9 months now. She would gasp for air and then just stop. You could actually see her chest cave in when she did it. I took her to two different doctors and they said she was fine. They did xrays and other tests. They said her blood oxy level was fine. This morning she did it again. We don't smoke. I don't know what the problem could be. If you get a decent answer let me know. THANKS!!!

Definitely consult your pediatrician first but it could just be that he/she just has a dirty nose. In babies it's hard to tell when there nose is dirty because if you look you won't see anything. You should clean your baby's nose every morning and every night before going to bed. Use an Ocean Spray (over the counter) nose drops and then use a nasal aspirator (suction) to clean it out. Your baby won't like the drops at all, but I promise you that it will help clean his/her nose. You will get something out even though you never saw it. If your baby sneezes alot it could also mean his/her nose is dirty. You should always clean your baby's nose every day because he/she can't do it on his/her own like we can. Imagine not cleaning your nose ever...you'd probably have a hard time breathing too. If after attempts to clean it, whether something comes out or not, your baby still does this, it could be that he/she has allergies. Both my kids have allergies...it's a terrible thing!

if your child a gasping for air at all, you need to go to the emergency room. there are very serious respiratory illnesses that go around this time of year and small babies can die from them if they aren't caught soon.

perhaps she is having an allergic reaction to something on your abode. additionally, some animals could have allergies or respiration problems. i could be asking your vet why your cat is on an antibiotic in the event that they do no longer even understand what's erroneous along with her. i could take her off of the medicine and attempt getting her to drink multiple heat water to assist flush something out of her throat. perhaps she in simple terms has a hairball.
