Taff's on the right track, Sanborn has one big error. Roundup and most other weed killers goes in through the leaves--so if you cut them off you're cutting off the doorway into the plant. Put on the weed killer (with a brush as Sanborn says if you prefer) and one drop of dishwashing detergent in your mix when it's not going to rain for 24 hours and the temp is above 60 degrees F.

If it's in your lawn I would suggest a brush killer instead of Roundup because a brush killer will not kill the grass but will still kill the ivy. And you won't have the tedious job of painting it on so as not to hurt the lawn. Many companies make brush killers, like Ortho's Brush*b*Gon. Check at your L&G Center and ask which ones they carry.

Use the concentrated form of the product Roundup. Very carefully apply to the ivy making sure that over-spray doesn't come in contact with desirable plants. This should do the trick for you.

My neighbors said it couldn't be done but I got rid of mine- I pulled the ivy out by hand (approx 1/4 of an acre) and used a metal rake to rake up the soil. It hasn't come back after 6 years!

As Taff says, over spray can be a big problem. One way around that is to use a paint brush and paint all cut stems no more then 20 minuets after cutting.

The best mix to use is a mix of Roundup and Garlon with a hort oil or Diesel carrier.

Read the lable, for it is the law! More is not better, stick to labled mix rates.

Oh my god IVY sucks to remove. You can put stuff to kill it but It will come back. You really should pull it all out. Make sure you get the roots! You might have to do it in cycles cause once you think it's gone ,you'll see some coming back! GOOD LUCK!
