No one can FORCE you to do anything but if your employer needs you, you might get fired for not working. I don't think you can sue for that.

I don't thinks so. It probably is not right that you have to work on Christmas Day. When you start a job, you basically agree to work a schedule to which the company provides. Some companies allow people to trade shifts or even have people work them for you. Try this route if you are unhappy with the regards of working on the holiday. Also, your company can not force you to do anything. You do not have to work there if you don't want to.
Check on the company policy and see if you can trade shifts or let someone work it for you. This is a much better route than wasting your time and money on a flimsy lawsuit.

I would like to know just how you define the word"force" I worked many a Christmas day because my schedule fell on that day. I am a Christian, and I never once thought to sue the people who provided me with a job. Get you head and gratitude turned in the right direction. Of course if you are in jail and have been assigned a work detail. You probable could sue. And even win. So much for the sense of our society.

If you refuse to work on a particular day for religious reasons, then you MIGHT have a claim. If you have no religious beliefs regarding working on Christmas day, they you have no grounds for a lawsuit.

No. When you were hired your work schedule was explained to you. It included the possibility of working holidays (not just Christmas). If you don't like the job because of that quit, otherwise kwityerbitchin.

Grow up. Holidays are excuses to waste money and goof off. Be glad you have a job and good life. If you lack seniority to get the day off live with it. I'm Sure there are others who wish they had a job and would not complain about working.

Look be happy you have a job. Work pay your dues, there are other holidays and you will get some of them off. Don't be such a weak self centered, selfish person. If I have to work you should work to. Be happy ... i know thousand of people that don't have a job and would be happy to take your place.

In the UK I imagine you can refuse to work it on religious grounds in most jobs but in some industry's this might not be the case so check before refusing.

umm.... no... don't think so.... unless you are perhaps being discriminated against because your religion dictates that you must celebrate jesus's birthday.... but we all know that 75% of our country isn't REALLY interested in doing that on Christmas day.
