they want to be like the NHL players they have the best so does your kids. rich parents can afford it and the other kids want it cause it looks cool. but allot of NHL players are going back to wooden sticks as of late, cause yes the composite sticks are lighter that's why NHL players like them but yet they break from just receiving a pass terrible sticks and very $$$$ as hockey is the most expensive sport in the world.

To tell you the truth, I am not even sure why professionals have them. Yes, they are light, but so what? They break as easy, if not easier than wooden sticks. You cannot feel the puck well on them. You notice a LOT more pucks bouncing off of sticks when receiving a pass than you did 10 years ago or more. And the idea that you can shoot harder with them is a MYTH. If you do not believe me, ask Al MacInnis, Al Iafrate, and Bobby Hull. The latter two hold the records for hardest shots ever, and they did it with wooden sticks. It's ridiculous, and just goes to show you that a sucker is born every minute. The stick companies insist they are great, and everyone believes them. And if the players are doing it, then you can bet the parents will follow. Everyone wants their kid to be the next Sydney Crosby. $$$Ka-CHING!$$$ What a joke.

Composite sticks don't make any sense for a mite (or mini mite). I broke down and bought my 12 year old one this year.
The only thing that I really like about the composites is the bottom of the blade in much more durable than a regular wood stick.

It happens in all sports. The parents with the money will spend for the best equipment, while other parents will use cheaper or hand me downs. The fact is, the equipment will never make up for hard work or having the parent support. A father taking his son skating during free skate, or playing ball hockey with him is a lot more impotant then expensive equipment.

Besides them being lighter...they aren't that beneficial to the little ones. I guess being light is probably important for them.....
Don't see too many mites getting use out of the flex technology that goes into the one-piece sticks.
Another bonus for parents is the little guys or gals probably can't break a stick....

Kids want what the NHL players have. It's no different from the all the duffers that buy the same clubs PGA pros have.

Some of those sticks are hand-me-downs or some person broke their stick and it was short enough for little kids to use, but for those who do buy them, wtf are they thinking.
