I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago tomorrow. I started bleeding yesterday which i know is normal for the menstral cycle. However, I have been in tremendous pain all through the night having to take strong pain killers. Today the bleeding seems quite heavy, I am in pain and I am losing alot of quite large clots. Is it possible that I am still losing pregnancy tissues etc during this cycle. The pain feels the same as when i had the miscarriage.

It's completely possible. Did your doctors do a d&c? Have you begun having sex again? I would make a call to the doctor who attended you during your miscarriage and speak to them, directly.

Its perfectly normal to have these symptoms. If youve got what the medical profession calls "retained products" such as part of the placenta which hasnt been passed you may have to have a d and c. You need to see your doctor for a check up. As women go through their lives, period pains can change. I have three children. I had a miscarriage after my first child. When I started my periods,I was very heavy with a lot of pain. After my first child, my periods became lighter. After my miscarriage they became heavy again and painfull.Since having my next 2 children, they have become very light with pain only on the first day.Go and see your doctor or practice nurse who can give you a check up and make sure your all ok. Im sorry for your loss, but be strong and Im sure the baby you long for will soon be here.

Hi there, i had a miscarriage last thursday and was told by the doctor my next period would be extremely heavy.
im still passing large clots at the minute even after a d&c and keyhole.
id say more than likely your passing the remaining tissue from the miscarriage however i would go see my gp to rule out any other issues like an infection after a d&c.
your better safe than sorry and ruling out any potential promblems now could help with your next pregnancy if you plan on trying again.
good luck and feel better soon

I have had several mis-carriages, and each one treats your body to some unusual stuff. You see, the body thinks it has actually given "birth" and therefore all of the hormones-not to mention the emotions are reaking havoc on your system. I had a similar period right after, took the pain killers etc etc. However, you still want to contact your doctor to make sure he/she doesn't want to check on the uterus wall and make sure all is healing nicely. I wouldnt ignore anything - it is a precious sensitive area and I am sure you want to be extra-cautious during the healing process. I am soooooooooo sorry for your loss - it isnt easy. I am sure you have heard it - to a point you may be tired of hearing it: but you ARE NOT alone. Take each day as it comes and allow the grief - in the long run you will see that it was just not your time YET- and someone upstairs has a plan for you.
hugs.

The passing of large blood clots is the primary cause of cramping. The larger the clot, the stronger the muscle contractions to remove them from the body.

You first period after a miscarriage will be more painful with heavier bleeding due to the hormonal changes.

In any case, I would consult a doctor or nurse practitioner to get peace of mind and to rule out any complications.

I went through that same experience after my miscarriage on August 11th. My first period was extremely painful and I had clots. I had a D&C done after the miscarriage and I still had that to occur on my first period. If you are really concerned, which is very understandable you should go see your physician. I wish you the best of luck. It has been 4 months for me and I am still not pregnant.

I had a miscarriage in Sept. and I went through all the same signs and symptoms that you are listing when I had my first period after the miscarriage. To ensure that you are OK, go and see the Dr though. I went to my Dr. about 4-5 weeks after miscarriage for a follow up and all was good. He did 1 last blood test and I was good to go. Though my next period is just like you mentioned. Well good luck to you!

I would go to the hospital and get checked and do an ultra sound to check and see if part of the placenta got left in you and all because thats what it sounds like that is what happened to me and thta is dangerous because the bleeding should be dieing down but the pain shold have been goine from a misccarriage so go and get checked and maek them do an ultrasound not just and exam .

If you had a d&c (which you should have had ) then this is not normal. You need to see your doc asap as you could have an infection which will need treatment sooner rather than later, if you didn't have a d&c it is possible that it is fetal tissue bit you could still have an infection as that tissue would have been sitting in you womb for to long. Go see your doc
