If I have a great idea for a new tv show what steps do I take to get on air?

I have a great Idea for a new show, I dont want to say to much but its about food. What do I do to get my show produced and on air?
Can anyone help me Please?

There was a show like this: it was called Queer as Folk and ran on Showtime. The last two seasons had a happily married (in Canada) gay couple with a biological baby girl -- one of the guys (Michael) fathered his daughter via artificial insemination with a lesbian friend. Michael and his husband had also adopted a runaway boy who had been abused by his mom. Sadly, the first show that you describe will probably first run in the UK where gay marriage is a fact, just as the original QAF began. It won't hit our shores until maybe five years from now, two if it's on cable. Commercial TV refuses to touch the subject in a mature (as in intelligent) way. Btw, I hated Will & Grace: offensive junk for the masses.
