Hi
I read somewhere that even if you get an USA Holiday visa you can still be turned away from entering the States,
Is this true? and does anybody know of this happening to people entering America?

Yes it is possible to be rejected entry into the country even if you have a visa. I know one person that this has happened to. The best way to ensure you won't be rejected is to act normal, I know it sounds funny, but a lot of people get nervous at the border, and they pick up on it. Speak clearly, don't flip-flop your answers and don't be nervous!

Last but not least, the reason people are most often rejected from entering the United states is criminal history. If you have a criminal record, check and make sure it will not exclude you from entering. They may or may not ask you about it at the border (If you do they will generally ask if you have any criminal offenses whatever you do, don't lie, they will know if you do).

Yes it is true but let's not make unnecessary panic; upon the arrival in the US it is a common (and accepted) practice that the immigration officer asks immigrants various questions such as the purpose of the visit to the US, whether the individual intends to find work while staying in the US; whether the individual has where to stay while in the US......etc.... It is important first of all to cooperate, be polite (that is do not try to challenge an order) and provide the proper information. Another IMPORTANT thing before you leave to the States is to check that your US Visa has been granted and remains valid at least within the validity of your air ticket. Normally a VISA is granted and remains in force for the validity of your passport; but you better check this since legilations do differ between countries (I am looking at your question from a Maltese citizen point of view). I never had or encountered people who had a valid visa but were still denied entry in the US. Hope that I gave you a clear picture.

oh yes it can happen alright. If you have a criminal record, but just turn up in the states without having contacted their embassy HERE first.

They already know if you have a criminal record because they have access to this info. So if you don't declare it, watch out.

Their immigration people are ignorant and arrogant. I have seen them in action and they are worse than nazis. What is is about Americans and uniforms?

In answer to your question, YES people get turned away all the time.

Yes it's possible but not very likely if you're going for a holiday and don't have a criminal record.
