I stupidly downloaded Myspace's web content viewer and ended up the a horrible virus. System Mechanic has not gotten rid of it, McAfee has not gotten rid of it and I can't reformat because my disc is not usable. I have limited funds so cannot just run out and try another virus program. This thing is eating my memory and has locked most of my programs including Internet Explorer. I am starting online classes in a few days and need a solution fast.

Go here and download this.I got a virus from myspace.Called virus burst that put a yellow triangle on my task bar with a ! in the middle,If this something like it do not click on triangle, only adds more junk. This is one of the best programs for virus like this and it works great. It is a 30 day trial but it will do the job. This kind of virus over rides your system so it can not be detected.

You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.

Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

If the above programs can not fix it. I bet HijackThis will.

Download HijackThis---http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis. Run and Save a Log. When you log comes up copy and paste the entire log at http://www.hijackthis.de/ . Analyze your results. You will then get a screen that will tell you if you have any nasty stuff in your computer. Follow instructions to deal with any nasties. CAUTION: This is a very powerful tool. Be careful.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

You could try "system restore" and back date your system to a date before you picked up the virus.
