They have plenty of people that they can put in the outfield. I wouldn't be worried at all about it. Whenever you can pickup good pitching talent, it is always a good idea. They have Lee, Berkman, Lane, Palmerio, Chris Burke. I wouldn't worry at all about it, they will be a stronger team with the acuqistion of Jennings.

The NL Central should be alot of fun to watch this season.

As many of the people above me have stated trading Taveras is sort of a double-edged sword. In losing Taveras the Astros lose their lead-off hitter, a dynamic fielder and a very speedy presence on the bases.

What they gain, however, is a solid (and young) number two starter to compliment Roy Oswalt and the recently acquired Woody Williams. This secures that top three spots in the rotation, which was a must after the loss of Pettitte and the on-going Clemens "will he or won't he retirement saga."

The Astros have a plethora of young talent who can move into CF to replace Taveras, my best guess is that it will go to Chris Burke who has been groomed as Biggio's replacement, but also can play both infield and outfield. With the addition of Lee to compliment Berkman and the expected rebound of Morgan Ensberg this Astros team could be a solid force in the NL Central next year.

I was more upset that Hirsh and Buckholz were traded, Taveras has speed and nothing but speed. The 'Stros have plenty of talent to fill the outfield. Burke is a better overall player than Taveras and he'll be starting in Center.

I think trading Buchholz and Hirsh are far more worse than trading Taveras. The Astros have Burke, Lane, or Lamb to fill in CF. Plus, they have a strong farm sytem, but the 'Stros gave up two superb young pitchers for a mediocre one, who might be a one-year rental. The Rockies got a huge steal in this trade.

Chris Burke played CF very well last year and he split time with Willy...I liked Willy T alot and I think the trade was a bad idea unless the Ascencio kid is an absolute stud. But we gave up Buckholtz and Hirsch - our 2 best pitching prospects and then a very solid CF with ALOT of speed and speed NEVER slumps. I personally wouldnt have made that trade, Jason Jennings is average and Buckholtz, Hirsch had alot of upside to them.

The trade did do one thing and thats get Chris Burke into the lineup everyday, and he needed to be. The kid is very very good offensively and he may not be a flashy CF but he'll be effective.

1. Craig Biggio - 2B
2. Chris Burke - CF
3. Lance Berkman - 1B
4. Carlos Lee - LF
5. Luke Scott - RF
6. Morgan Ensberg - 3B
7. Brad Ausmus - C
8. Adam Everett - SS
9. ___________ - SP

Thats not bad it has a good combo of speed and power...Lee should thrive in Houston with that porch to left, we all know what Berkman can do, Luke Scott proved himself last year, Biggio is a doubles machine...should be an interesting year.

Rotation seems to be (as of now w/o Clemens)

1. Roy Oswalt
2. Wandy Rodriguez
3. Jason Jennings
4. Brandon Backe

Questionable altho Wandy had a solid season and I think Backe is a hell of a competitor and will be a solid 4th starter. Oswalt is always up for a Cy Young...again its gonna be interesting...

Giving up a speedy and young center fielder is never easy but you have to give up talent to get a good return. I think they got excellent value in return. They have enough outfielders and have a serious problem with the starting staff, now at least one spot in the rotation that needed an upgrade got one(no Pettitte and likely no Clemens...those are 2 big spots in the rotation that needed to be filled). Jennings is a very good pitcher who put up very good numbers in Coors field so I think you will ultimately like this deal.
