The problem is not about the rich avoiding the draft. The draft typically is directed toward young unschooled men, unfortunately many of the poor do not head to college therefore making the poor the usual target. As far as the rich are concerned, well you know all those travel years taken prior to starting or continuing university, consider those out the door. These kids will find going to university better then trying to backpack throughout Europe with military police on their backs. What is the lesson here, rich, poor, or middle class, get your butts to university. This world is being weakened by the loss of intelligence so please bring back the power of knowledge, thought provocative discussion and respectable scholar by giving strength where is belongs,
EDUCATION!!!

Actually, it wasn't the wealthy that avoided the draft last time.

It was, what they called then, the hippies. And they were far from
being wealthy. We also had a much larger army then.

Point of information, being in the National Guard did not
preclude a person from going into combat.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up

I'm not sure but I think your not educated in these matters.

Many Senators and other's plus rich folks do Miltary Service wanting to give back to there country. Not only is this true in our country Look at England where the 1 prince just graduated bootcamp and wanted to go to Iraq but his goverment said no due to His and others around him security and his status...

Myself I would say its more the lower classes of folks looking for an Out to not have to go to Serve for there Country.

Look at the elections the elite rigged, think they cannot rig a draft?
I'm not fighting for this giant garbage can until Mr. President gets off his butt and walks into the war with us. ON the front line as a marine without proteciton. He is not better than anyone and we are not either.
About time people get off their pedastals, only one belongs there and you know who that is.

There isn't going to be a draft and yes the wealthy will be able to avoid it like they've been able to in past history.

I do believe that there will be no deferments no exemptions the next time. You had better be disabled! Why the class warfare?

Good question.

This is why the Republicans are so much against the draft.

They don't want their kids running off to Canada.
