I would start by checking the cannon plug that goes from the fuse box through the firewall into the engine compartment. Either loose or contaminated with water.
Also check all the connections at the ECU (computer) which should be located on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
You have an electrical problem and your transmission is controlled by the computer.

It sounds like you have an intermittent electrical problem which is killing the engine momentarily, seems like the transmission won't shift because the rpm is dropping. This is a dangerous and life threatening problem and you should take it to someone capable of fixing it. these usually get worse. Stuff you can look for is, corroded connections starting at the battery and working your way to the fuse box. If you find anything that looks like white powder, clean it off. Use a wire brush or a dremel tool. If you don't have repair skills find someone who does. I had a similar problem with a Chrysler product, they don't do electrical circuits well.

Most automatic transmissions in modern cars/trucks are controlled by the car's computer. If the computer loses power, it can't make the transmission shift.
