You will not have to pay for it but you will get a negative feedback

When you have the winning bid on something, you are automatically entered into a binding, LEGAL contract to pay for the product. What they mean by a "strike against you" is that not paying goes in your profile and any seller on Ebay can deny a bid from you. If you really like to bid and buy from Ebay sellers, you should pay for the DVD; otherwise you may not be able to buy from them in the future.

You bid and the auction ended. While nothing forces you to pay, you should pay unless you can come to some amicable agreement with the seller. The "strike" against you will come in two forms. First, your rating. You will get negative feedback. People who sell will cancel the bids of people with negative feedback. Also, if you have two or three circumstances as you've created; bidding, winning and then not paying, eBay can cancel your account and ban you from eBay based on your user name, IP Address and other means.

Yes, bidding on an item on eBay is a binding contract and you must pay for what you win. Don't bid on things unless you intent on paying for them.

No, you don't have to pay for it, but if you bid on it and "won the auction" if you do not pay for it you will get "negative feedback". If you get enough of this, no one will want to sell anything to you because you are an unreliable bidder and it costs money to put a well-designed ad on Ebay, which they might have to repeat, so "non-paying bidders" are NOT welcome there.

He expects you to pay since you did bid for it and you are wasting his time by not paying for it. if you dont pay for it then you will get negative feedback which isnt good especially on eBay.. but if you dont care about negative feedback then i guess u dont have to pay.. but it ruins ur reputation.

If you place a bid that wins and then you back out of the contract then, yes, it will be noted on your account and people will be less likely to sell to you.
