i am having a problem with my electrical system. A mechanic thinks he's figured it out..but ive contacted other people and they think that cant be the problem..also, they have to RE test it and thats alone 175 dollars and then the part and install that the one mechanic thinks it may be totals about 420 dollars...if anyone has had a problem with theirs please let me know because it would be a great thing to fix it cheaper! thanks

symptoms: car dies...it drains the battery..now sometimes it drains in ten mins, or over night. there is a four amp draw on my battery!!! also, my head lights act up...the went out all of a suden one night and i got two more and then now one works great one is dim!!! they also diagnosed it as the body control moduel. but a few other mechanics told me that they think that 4 amps would NOT be running through there

You added anything like after market stereo system? CB radio with power amp wired directly to battery? If so check them them first could be wired wrong. Do you ever smell anything like insulation burning? If so follow your nose to it.

There are very few things not controlled by ignition switch. Interior lights, cig. lighter plug if it has one. And if I remember right off the top of my head without looking at the manual brake light and e-blinkers. Check them next. One thing that happens fairly often is the cig lighter is pushed it and doesn't kick out because it is going bad and doesn't get hot enough. It sets there drawing current all the time. Having cig lighter stuck in access plug and getting pushed will also cause that. Access plugs are current limited so ligther will never get hot enough to kick out.

If it is pulling 4 amps all the time it is something ahead of your ignition switch (straight to the battery) vs going through your ignition switch and grd mod.
If none of those places you most likely have a wire shorted to ground behind a current limiting resistor somewhere.

Another place to look is the light switch especially if you have wired in things like driving lights to it. One that one light switch module has been burned crispy that way.

It would kind of help to know...

A). The symptoms.
B). What problem was diagnosed.
