Yep some women walk around dilated for weeks. I am 34 weeks and have had some contractions as well but am not in labor. Don't worry, you'll know when it's for real... your water will break and/or you will start to feel actual pain with the contractions.

I know how frustrating it is to be sent home. YOur mucus plug is a good sign of labor preparing to start, but it never played a factor in my labors. Sometimes I lost it 3 weeks before I went in to labor and with my last I didn't loose it till I was finally admited 1 day before my due date.
If your cervix isn't changing, then the baby has most likely not dropped enough to put preasure on it. I found it relaxing to go to the mall and walk around. I knew there would be people there if I went into labor and I wasthat much closer to the hospital. Also try warm baths. But most of all, walk. Don't exhaust yourself, but walking helps the baby drop and helps your labor pick up. I've heard sex helps, though it never did with any of my 3 kids. Jsut remember as uncomfortable as you are, youare giving your baby that much more time to finish developing an with flu and cold season, then the baby will stay healthier longer.
I got so frustrated waiting for my second that I decided I was taking my husband bowling. WE never made it we had our son 3 hours later.
Good luck and Congratulations

It means you are one step closer, look its a long process and you could still go another week or two. How ever since you are starting to dilate I think it won't be that long. One of these times the pains will feel a little different than this time, the pressure more exact and you will go "ah-ha" and then its time to go.

Due to your first pregnancy, something could of went wrong with your bodily functions and you may have not noticed anything at the time. Now having a second baby may have interfered with your bodily functions. Although this is not too serious I suggest taking a trip to the hospital two or three times every two weeks to see if they can come up with something to help you. I am sure nothing will happen to you or your baby at all!

I lost my plug about a week before I had any contractions,I was sent home also.I was only 1c.m.But when I got home my water bag broke and they had me come right in.After 20 hours I was only a 6 and they had to take my son Csection. He is fine.I dont think it is cause for concern. But if your water brakes call the doctor that minute.Good luck.Be well

You are just in early stages of labor. Loosing the plug just means the ball is going to get moving soon.
Walk LOTS
have sex
nipple stimulation
DO NOT use Castor oil- you will just be on the potty.
If you have a pump try pumping
these things can speed things up!

i can relate i was as frustrated 3weeks ago as you are now. i got sent home 4 times. they will send you home as long as your cervix is not thinning and not soft because that means your baby is going to be awhile yet coming.
the only reason they kept me last time was because my water broke on the way to the hospital but i ended up having a c section.
i know how anxious you must be getting. just hang in there, it will not be long now.
