I don't know that Bush is that serious about more troops, or if he's just flexing his muscle in an attempt to politically survive his last two years in the White House. So I'd be surprised.
As for other countries, they don't want to touch Iraq with a 10 foot pole. If anything, those already involved are looking for a way out. The general sentiment seems to be: It's your mess, you clean it up. The only countries that are willing to go in are Iran and Syria, but for mostly selfish reasons.

Wow. A lot of the cons here have no idea what the hell is going on over there. Reserves are being sent over in large numbers. tours are being involuntarily extended as are hitches through stop-loss. In short, we can barely support the troop level we have now.
Even with that, there is no way a draft happens. Repubs don't want it because it might mean the "haves" will take on some of the burden, even though they have historically weaseled out of that obligation in war after war. Democrats don't want it because we don't want anyone else to die for this idiotic misadventure.
We can't count on the countries we shunned when we decided to go it alone to get our back now. Not with this regime in power.

Why do people feel we have maxed out our military capacity in Afghanistan and Iraq? People seem to be under the misconception that every soldier we have is overseas and that we don't have any more to spare. That is just not the case. We have the "thousands" needed to send over there. We are not short on military personnel. We have reached or surpassed our recruitment goals each month for years!
We don't need a draft, more people than what is needed sign up each month!
We are not stretched too thin, we are not losing, and we will not have a draft.

Most likely few other countries will come to aid us. Definitely the UK (England) will support us.
This change in policy will not necessitate a draft. There are plenty of soldiers in our army. Waiting and ready to go do the job they trained for.
I would wager to say there will never be another draft in the US.

We still have troops in the US protecting us - but can go over if needed. I am Bush Bashing - I hope he is one of the first in line for DRAFT if it comes to that - WE NEED TO GET OUR BOYS HOME - Enough is enough, their tired, and Bush started it and AMERICA needs to end it. We got who we went for - now lets concentrate on the one that tore the US up 5 years ago - Sadden is no longer a threat - may he hang in hell, we need Ben laden!!! The real threat to the USA.

No, we need the extra troops, and we have needed them for awhile now, it is about time. The sectarian violence is getting out of hand, and the extra troops are needed to help quell the violence, and support the Iraqi military. The draft is not in the works, unless you are a Democrat.

I cannot see any other solution other than forced extension of the terms of service of the people already in the armed forces, and this will only be a temporary measure.
