I suggest going to a department store and allowing one of the counters to do your makeup. Of course, it would be ridiculously expensive to buy all their stuff, but it would show you what colors look good on you and how to apply them. I would recommend buying the foundation (and possibly the powder) because that is something you really want to match your skin tone, and guessing in a drugstore can be difficult. Also, choose your counter wisely. For example, Mac has more youthful, trendy looks while a company like Estee Lauder would provide a more traditional style. Base your decision on how their associates do their makeup.

Before using foundation, apply a blue or green concealer under your eyes to hide dark circles, on the bridge of your nose to elongate it and along your cheek bones to give them more definition.
