The belt tensioner should have a square slot in it, about 1/2" square, for inserting a long-handled wrench (like a torque wrench). When inserted and pressure applied, the tensioner will move just enough to slip the belt off. However, the tensioner could be stuck or frozen so rather than gamble on breaking something- my advice, given that this is the first time (evidently) that you are attempting this, is to go to your local quickie-lube place; most of them replace serpentine belts. Pay the few extra bucks for them to do it (and watch what they do, and what type of wrench/bar they use...then you'll know what to do next time, and what you'll need). Hope this info helped.

You can do it, there is always a way, you just might have to look at it and think for a while.

If not, just take it to a mechanic, it's only a belt, shouldn't cost that much to replace it.
