your baby is still pretty small. Sheis still moving, butnot as vigurously. She still has a lot of room to move around in. If youare terribly concerned then definaltely check with your doc to see if she can get a heart beat, or even schedule an ultra sound. But your most likely won't feel massive movement until about 22+ weeks.

Good luck

Yes it is.

Up until about 20 weeks the baby is generally the same size as the placenta, and not really strong.

Unless the baby is facing outward, and away from the placenta, you cant feel it move regularly.

If this had occured at 19-20 weeks it might be cause for concern, since the baby should be big enough to be felt if you lay down with a glass of juice and feel for it.

There will also be days where an active baby wont move hardly at all, because its having a growth spurt, and then it will come back twice as active and strong.

Any 24 hours period with NO movement after about 20-24 weeks is a cause for the ER.

If you're concerned with things now, certainly call your OB and request a doppler check, or sonogram :)

You have to remember how tiny your baby is at this point. They don't have to bump into you because they have sooo much room to float about. They aren't taking up much space in your uterus. It's actually unsual to feel a baby that early. I first felt my second child at around 18 weeks but that's because I knew what I was feeling for. Also take into account that you are pretty busy throughout the day and you may or may not feel those tiny taps. Later you will feel those karate kicks. If later on after you feel steady movements and you are worried drink something sugary such as juice and lay on your left side for about an hour. That should get him moving. My ob suggests I should call him if I feel less than 5-6 movements per hour.

Your baby could be moving and you could just not be feeling it right now, its possible that your baby is moving at night when you are sleeping. Lay down and drink a glass of milk if your baby still hasnt moved after two hours, call your dr and schedule an appt. If not for anything but your peace of mind. At least you should be able to hear the heartbeat.

I don't think Elaine understood what your question was. You aren't asking us to give you medical advice, right? I think what you are asking is "Is it normal at 17 weeks to not be able to feel movement." You know, like "did anyone experience this". I think the position of the baby can make it seem like he's not moving, but to be safe AND for your peace of mind, check with your doctor, sweetie. Good luck!

When I was pregnant with my son I had the same thing.I went to the doctors and had a sono. And they said he was fine.He had turned sideways and was in a diff. postion.Do not worry I think the baby is fine.Keep rubbing your belly or lay on your side to get the baby to move postions.

Don't ask questions like this here. We don't know enough about your medical history.

Go call your doctor right now.
