It usually happens 7-10 days after ovulation. But it has been known to occur as early as 5 days.

Implantation begins approximately 6 days post-conception(fertilization) and continues during the following week. Spotting is often a by-product of this process, occurring during the 3rd to 4th week of pregnancy. If implantation occurs high in the uterus(as it typically does) such spotting may be delayed a bit as it works it's way down to the cervix. This is NOT an absolute sign of pregnancy, nor does it happen for every woman- many other conditions can cause such spotting. The spotting will be "old" looking and will only last a few hours if that. On day 28 of a 30 day cycle, you could only be about 12 days since conception if you are pregnant- FAR too early to be seeing implantation bleeding.
